How Reliable is AliExpress? Tips to Enhance Your Shopping Experience

How reliable is Aliexpress?  I saw some newers of aliexpress may doubt about this. I've been selling on AliExpress for about a decade, from my known from a buyer friend's experience: he is with a success rate of around 95% for delivered goods, which has improved to nearly 100% in recent years. Here are some tips to enhance your shopping experience:

  1. Comparable Items to Amazon: Most products you find on Amazon are available on AliExpress at a significantly lower price if you can wait 3+ weeks for delivery. Aim for at least 50% savings; otherwise, Amazon might be a better choice. Note that returns are not possible on AliExpress; once you buy it, you keep it.

  2. Choose Sellers with High Order Counts: Avoid sellers with low "Orders" counts. Ensure the seller has completed at least 100 orders. Most disappointments come from sellers with only a few completed orders.

  3. Be Cautious with Brand Name Items: For genuine brand name items, buy from a trusted reseller in your region. AliExpress has many knock-offs. However, many electronics from AliExpress are of good quality. I buy a lot of electrical items, and they work well.

  4. Manage Expectations: Don’t expect sellers to resolve issues satisfactorily. While some sellers do offer refunds or reship items, it’s rare. It's better to have low expectations regarding dispute resolutions.

  5. Clothing Purchases: Always order one or two sizes larger when buying clothes. Clothes are often smaller than expected. I've had the best results by ordering a single item to check the fit before buying more.

  6. Shipping Times Vary: Shipping can be unpredictable. Orders placed around Christmas may arrive within a few weeks, but some items can take up to 3 months. Generally, expect 4 to 6 weeks for delivery, though some items arrive in about 3 weeks.

  7. Tracking Issues: Don’t worry if tracking information disappears. Items often arrive without updated tracking or responses from the seller. This is a common occurrence.

  8. Use a Credit Card: Always pay with a credit card. If something goes wrong, you can file a dispute with your credit card company. The Fair Credit Act protects you, but ensure you first attempt to resolve the issue with AliExpress and the seller. Give them 48 hours to respond before filing a dispute.

By following these tips, you can improve your shopping experience on AliExpress and avoid many common pitfalls.

If you're unsure about purchasing a product, you can send me the details. I'll buy it for you, unbox it, and take a video to show you the actual item before you buy. This way, you can decide if you want to buy it, avoiding the hassle of returns and exchanges. Since I'm based in China, this is very convenient for me.
